Modified Arts
Roosevelt Row Arts District · Phoenix, Arizona
Modified Arts has been one of Roosevelt Row's most essential and uncompromising creative spaces since the neighborhood's early days as Phoenix's arts district, operating as a genuinely multi-use venue where experimental contemporary art, live music, and performance share equal billing. The space is raw and unpretentious - high ceilings, exposed concrete, minimal framing - which suits the work it tends to show: boundary-testing painting, installation, video, and performance art that wouldn't fit comfortably in a more formal gallery setting. Modified Arts has nurtured generations of Phoenix artists who needed a place to take risks and build community, and it continues to serve that function for the city's emerging creative generation.
