Heard Museum
Central Phoenix · Phoenix, Arizona
Founded in 1929 by Dwight and Maie Heard, the Heard Museum is recognized worldwide as the foremost institution dedicated to the art and culture of Native peoples of the American Southwest. The permanent collection is extraordinary in scope - Hopi kachina dolls, Diné textiles and silverwork, pottery from San Ildefonso Pueblo, contemporary paintings and sculpture by Indigenous artists from across the region - and the temporary exhibition program brings major national and international presentations to Phoenix each season. The Annual Indian Fair & Market, held each spring, is one of the most important Native American art markets in the country. Essential visiting for anyone serious about Southwest art and culture.
