Los Luceros Historic Site

Alcalde · Española, New Mexico

Los Luceros is a 200-acre historic hacienda along the Río Grande north of Española, managed by New Mexico Historic Sites and presenting exhibitions on the living traditions of northern New Mexico's Hispanic and Pueblo communities. The hacienda — one of the oldest properties in New Mexico, with roots in the Spanish colonial period — has served as a trading post, a ranch, and an artist's retreat, and its extraordinary setting along the Río Grande, surrounded by cottonwood groves and apple orchards, remains one of the most beautiful landscapes in the state. The site's programming connects its historic architecture and collections to the living communities of the Española Valley whose traditions of craft, farming, and spiritual practice reach back hundreds of years.
