McNay Art Museum
Alamo Heights · San Antonio, Texas
The McNay Art Museum is Texas's first modern art museum, set in a sprawling 1929 Spanish Colonial Revival mansion surrounded by sculpture gardens and commanding one of the most beautiful museum settings in the American Southwest. The collection is particularly distinguished in Post-Impressionist painting - with works by Cézanne, Gauguin, van Gogh, and their contemporaries - alongside exceptional holdings of medieval and Renaissance art, twentieth-century American painting, and one of the finest collections of theater arts and costume design in the United States. The McNay's combination of extraordinary art, exceptional architecture, and gracious grounds makes a visit one of the most satisfying cultural experiences in all of Texas.
