Navajo Gallery
Kit Carson Road · Taos, New Mexico
The Diné Gallery is the historic gallery of celebrated Diné artist R.C. Gorman - one of the most acclaimed Native American artists of the twentieth century - whose iconic figurative works celebrating Diné women have made him both a beloved regional figure and an internationally recognized artist. Gorman's work, which draws on both the Diné figurative tradition and the influences of Mexican muralism, modernist painting, and printmaking he absorbed through formal training and international travel, is presented alongside a program of other Native American art that honors the tradition Gorman both inherited and transformed. The gallery's Taos location places it in the community where Gorman made his home and developed his mature artistic identity.
