Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum
Barton Springs · Austin, Texas
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum is a beloved South Austin institution dedicated to the work of Charles Umlauf - one of the most important American figurative sculptors of the twentieth century and a beloved UT Austin professor for forty years. The museum's four lush acres present more than 130 bronze, stone, and wood works in a serene garden setting that allows visitors to encounter sculpture in natural light and open air, as Umlauf intended. The garden's combination of towering live oaks, reflecting pools, and Umlauf's expressive figuration - nymphs, athletes, and religious subjects - creates one of the most intimate and accessible sculpture experiences in Texas.
